Medication Adherence
This training is intended only for participants that have completed and passed the Case Management – Part I Training and exam.
This segment of Part 2 training will review current recommendations for antiretroviral therapy and examine emerging and newly-approved HIV Medications. It will also cover the impact of adherence and resistance on the clinical management of HIV and introduce adherence counseling techniques.

Ryan Tomlin is the clinical HIV pharmacist at the Mercy Heath Saint Mary's McAuley Clinic in Grand Rapids. He received his doctorate from Purdue University and completed two years of residency at The University of Oklahoma. His interest in HIV developed from his time treating patients at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. While in Kenya he received the United States Public Health Service – Excellence in Pharmacy Practice Award for his work with the Tumaini Street Children's Drop-In Center. Currently, he is actively involved with a number of HIV organizations across the state of Michigan including the Michigan chapter of the Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center and the Michigan HIV/AIDS Council. He also works closely with MDHHS teaching courses over medication adherence to new case managers and presenting novel antiretroviral medications to the Michigan HIV Drug Assistance Formulary Committee.
