The Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Compassion Fatigue, and Selfcare Strategies
This update will provide an introduction to trauma and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), as well as addressing compassion fatigue and selfcare strategies. Participants will receive an overview of NEAR Science (neuroscience, epigenetics, ACEs and resilience) and the impact of toxic stress on physical and mental health. Additionally, this update will explore the concept of compassion fatigue (secondary traumatic stress) and its impact on those who work with traumatized individuals. Specific personal, interpersonal, and organizational strategies for preventing and addressing compassion fatigue will be discussed.

All interested persons are welcome to apply to attend update training courses. Applicants who are employed and/or volunteering at a State-funded agency will receive priority for course placement.
