Taking a Deeper Dive into Reflective Supervision: A Training and Consultation Series
How do home visitation supervisors attend to all that their staff need in order to offer services to families that really support the well-being and relational health of their very young children? This training and consultation series will provide an opportunity for exploring this important question in depth. The integration of reflective supervision elements into supervisory relationships that have primarily consisted of other aspects of programming and administration enhances the working relationship between supervisor and staff, which then positively impacts the staff-family relationship, but it is not without its challenges!
Breaking Through Barriers to Positively Impact Change
This workshop series is designed for anyone interested in not only learning Motivational Interviewing skills but also for those who want to deepen their Motivational Interviewing skills. The struggle is real when working with teens and young adults to decrease their risks. Effective interventions require a specialized approach. This highly rated, interactive workshop equips you to use motivational interviewing strategies to improve your ability to identify risks, communicate effectively with families, and motivate them toward healthy decisions. Mandatory online education modules must be completed prior to attending the in-person workshop unless you have already taken them as a participant in a previous training with Jennifer Salerno.

Training Description
How do home visitation supervisors attend to all that their staff need in order to offer services to families that really support the well-being and relational health of their very young children? This training and consultation series will provide an opportunity for exploring this important question in depth. The integration of reflective supervision elements into supervisory relationships that have primarily consisted of other aspects of programming and administration enhances the working relationship between supervisor and staff, which then positively impacts the staff-family relationship, but it is not without its challenges!
You are invited to participate in a small learning community of home visitation program supervisors that will meet over the course of 19 months. Two days of didactic training and interactive reflection experiences will kick off the series. 90-minute monthly RSC sessions via Zoom technology will follow, offering supervisors the opportunity to receive RSC related to their supervision dilemmas, and to practice their own Reflective Supervision skills with guidance. The series will include another in-person training in October 2019 with a wrap up day of training and reflective practice experiences in April 2020.
Topics will include: how to begin, essential elements of RSC, balancing RSC with program supervision, attending to important structural elements, self and other awareness, holding emotionally charged material, and more. Each training day and virtual RSC session will offer opportunities to observe and practice being in a RSC relationship, so commitment to attend and participate is important!
