Breastfeeding Coordinator Training

This training will provide local agency Breastfeeding Coordinators with the information, skills and administrative tools necessary to implement and manage a WIC Breastfeeding Program.

A total of 4.00 Nursing contact hours have been awarded for this activity by the Michigan Public Health Institute – Continuing Education Solutions.

A total of 4.00 instructional hours in topics on the IBCLE Exam Blueprint have been awarded for this activity by Michigan Public Health Institute – Continuing Education Solutions.  Out of the 5.50 instructional hours 2.50 are L CERPs, 1.50 are R CERPs, and 0.00 are E CERPs

A Certificate of Attendance with educational hours will be provided for healthcare professionals who can self-report.

2024 Breastfeeding Coordinator Training – Purpose, Objectives, and Disclosures

The training is intended for new Michigan WIC local agency breastfeeding coordinators. There are no prerequisites or attendance limits.

  • Understand the administrative role of a local WIC agency breastfeeding coordinator.
  • Understand how to collect, analyze and use data to conduct a needs assessment an write NSP goals and activities.
  • Describe how to issue, inventory, and maintain breast pumps and equipment.
  • Understand the requirements for staff education.
  • Describe the tools available to educate clients and maintain a breastfeeding-friendly clinic environment.

The breastfeeding coordinator training is virtual and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm. The deadline for registration is 4 days before the training begins. Currently, there is no fee for this training. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email. Before the training, attendees will receive an email with a Zoom registration link. Please register with Zoom prior to the training. Once attendees register with Zoom, they will be sent a unique link to access the training. Do not share this link.
