Continuing Education opportunities are available in the areas of Nursing, Registered Dietitians (RD) and Dietetic Technicians & Registered (DTR). A Certificate of Attendance with educational hours is also available. If more information is needed, please contact CEInfo@mphi.org.
At the end of this workshop, participants will learn how to:
  • Properly screen and assess the WIC client and assign appropriate nutrition risk factors.
  • Determine appropriate food packages pertaining to clients’ risks and needs while maintaining compliance with regulations and policy.
  • Properly assign and change a client’s food package in the electronic record.
  • Provide nutrition education while applying client centered counseling skills (CCS) in the WIC clinic setting.
  • Develop Nutrition Education Plans incorporating clients’ concerns, needs and goals.
  • Identify appropriate referrals within the community that meet clients’ needs.
  • Document nutrition education and referrals in the electronic record.
  • Participate in mock certifications of WIC clients with hands-on practice and application in the electronic record.

  • New CPA staff who are familiar with the process and functions of the WIC clinic.

All participants registering in advance will receive a confirmation letter, including a map and directions. If you do not receive a confirmation letter one week prior to the event, or if you have any questions regarding registration, please contact MPHI at (517) 324-8330.
Cancellations and no-shows for any reason, including inclement weather conditions and weather related emergencies, are subject to the full registration fee if there is one.
